Premier Múte Bourup Egede and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Business, Trade and Climate Pele Broberg to meet with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken

When Antony Blinken visits Greenland on May 20, 2021, Premier Múte Bourup Egede will host the visit in Kangerlussuaq. The purpose of the visit is primarily to reaffirm the good relations between the USA and Greenland, as well as to discuss the further development of the bilateral cooperation.

”I look forward to welcome Antony Blinken to our country. I also look forward to discuss further development of our cooperation with our great neighbor to the West. I especially look forward to the fact, that we jointly can further economic and cultural exchange between our countries” says Múte Bourup Egede.

Before the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visits Greenland, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Business, Trade and Climate Pele Broberg will meet the Secretary of State in Copenhagen on May 17th.

”We have a positive and important relationship. Greenland and the United States agreed on October 28 2020 to formalize this relationship in a number of areas, which are under the jurisdiction of Greenland. It will be positive for our countries to develop the relation between us, especially in terms of trade and investment,” says Pele Broberg.

Following the meeting in Copenhagen, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Business, Trade and Climate Pele Broberg will travel to Reykjavik to attend the Arctic Council Ministerial Meeting on May 19-20, together with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeppe Kofod, and the Prime Minister of Faroe Islands Bárður á Steig Nielsen.

All meetings will take place with great focus on COVID-19, and with full compliance to all guidelines and recommendations from the authorities.
