Anglo American is now a licensee

The Ministry of Mineral Resources and Labour hereby announces that Anglo American Exploration Overseas Holdings Limited (“Anglo American”) is a licensee in Greenland again.

Anglo American has been granted two exploration licences south of Upernavik in West Greenland, and a prospecting licence covering the standard area 'West Greenland'. The licences have been granted for a five-year period, until 31st December 2023. The target minerals for the exploration programs will be nickel, copper and Platinum group metals (PGM’s).

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Labour, Erik Jensen, adds the following:
“Welcoming Anglo American back to Greenland is evidence that Greenland’s strategy of attracting responsible foreign investment in mineral exploration is yielding returns, and the Ministry will continue to promote Greenland as a top-tier location for investing in mineral exploration.”

Anglo American plc is a leading global mining company and is one of the largest mining groups to become a licensee in Greenland. Anglo American is conducting an exploration program for polymetallic (Cu-Ni-PGM) magmatic sulphide deposits and has identified Greenland as being of potential interest.
