Internships at the Greenland Representation in Brussels and in Washington, D.C. or at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Nuuk

Information about the opportunity for an internship in the Greenlandic representations and the Department of Foreign Affairs

Students have the opportunity for a study-related internship at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Nuuk or at the representations in Brussels or Washington, D.C.

The stay will be organized so that there can be a credit transfer, if the education undertaken so permits. The objective of the internship programme is to contribute to the student's education, and gain insights into Greenland's foreign affairs, tasks and day-to-day work under the directions of the secretaries of the representations.

We offer an opportunity for students to apply their professional knowledge to practical matters. The student gets the opportunity to be a part of a number of interesting projects and tasks.

It is an requirement that the applicant is an active student at the time of the application and during the internship, at an institution of higher education. The contents and rights is assigned by the respective representations, and the application is to be sent directly to the representation. It is not a paid internship, however the intern gets a grant of approximately 2.500-4.000 DKK a month to help with the cost of living expences. The amount depends on where the internship takes place.

Internship at the Greenland Representation in Brussels
At the Greenland Representation in Brussels as a student you have the opportunity to experience a study-related internship for six months in the periods 1 February to 31 July or 1 August to 31 January. The stay will be organized so that there can be credit transfer, if the trainee's education permits.

We offer an opportunity for students to apply their professional knowledge to practical matters. The areas in which students mainly will deal with are: OCT cooperation and the tasks that are associated with the cooperation, Fisheries partnership agreement and partnership agreement between Greenland and the EU. In addition many tasks that occur during the training period are - for example, process of seal dispute between the EU and Greenland - which will shape the internship.

Internship at the Greenland Representation in Washington, D.C.

As an intern at the representation in Washington, D.C., you will gain experience in relations between Greenland and USA in relation to several areas, hereunder: political, economical, trade, education, science and cultural affairs. The representation is also accredited Canada. The representation works to strengthen the relations between Canada and Greenland. The areas in which the intern mainly will deal with are: attending high-level meetings and conferences, write reports and minutes, gather and processing information from various reports, media, web in order to write a newsletter etc.

Internship at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Nuuk
At the Department of Foreign Affairs in Nuuk have as a student the opportunity to experience on a study-related internship for six months in the periods 1 February to 31 July or 1 August to 31 January. The stay will be organized so that there can be credit transfer, if the trainee's education permits.

As an intern in the Department of Foreign Affairs, you will gain insight into the PA's structure and working methods in a policy-driven unit and inter-departmental cooperation. You will gain experience in the Greenlandic Foreign Service, which gives you a deeper insight into Greenland's foreign relations and behavior.

We offer an opportunity for students to apply their professional knowledge to practical matters. Specifically consist tasks as an intern at Department of Foreign Affairs in preparing memoranda, reports, answering inquiries and collecting and processing information from various reports, the media, the Internet, etc.. These tasks are typically of legal, political, economic and administrative nature. You will as an intern should participate in relevant meetings, conferences etc. and official events. In addition, it is expected that you follow parliamentary meetings and debates.
