GME´s Navigational Safety Investigation Study approved for public consultation

GME´s Navigational Safety Investigation Study (NIS report) approved for public consultation

In a company announcement released on 11 October 2017, Greenland Minerals and Energy Ltd. (GME) provided a status report on the Navigational Safety Investigation Study. The Navigational Safety Investigation Study is being undertaken as part of GME’s exploitation licence application for the Kvanefjeld Project. Since GME’s announcement, the news stories brought by some media have been based on information provided in that announcement.

According to some of these news stories, the Danish Maritime Authority acting on behalf of the Government of Greenland has now approved The Navigational Safety Investigation Study.

In fact, however, the Navigational Safety Investigation Study has been reviewed by the Danish Maritime Authority. The Maritime Authority has informed the Government of Greenland that The Navigational Safety Investigation Study is now of sufficiently high quality to go out for public consultation. Against this background, the Government of Greenland has informed GME that The Navigational Safety Investigation Study is now of sufficiently high quality to go out for public consultation. The study has thus not been approved. It has been found to be qualified to go out for public consultation.
