Travelling to and residence in Greenland

There is no visa requirement for Nordic citizens, who are traveling to Greenland. Do you come from a country where visas are required to travel to Denmark, it must be endorsed if you are traveling on to Greenland.

Greenland and the Faroe Islands are not a member of either the EU or Schengen. There are, however, made a special agreement in relation to Schengen, which means that EU citizens can still travel to Greenland and the Faroe Islands without their passports. For non-EU citizens apply, however, to their Schengen visa does not apply to Greenland and the Faroe Islands. A visa to Denmark gives hence no automatic access to Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Similarly, a residence in Greenland do not give rights to reside in Denmark. Greenland and Denmark are separate travel areas.

If you want to stay in Greenland longer or work in the country you must apply for a residence and work permit for employment in Greenland.
